Assessing a decade of physician-assisted death On November 4, Washington voters passed a Death with Dignity Act, making it the second state permitting physicians to assist terminally ill patients in ending their lives by prescribing lethal doses of medication. It is modeled after Oregon’s law which contains safeguards designed to protect both physicians and their patients.
